Our Apartment
When we were still preparing to come to China we had already dealt with the idea that we would probably not have a "western toilet" in our apt. We were OK with that and then an opportunity arose for us to rent a better apt. from a couple that owns this place and had to leave the country for a year. The timing was perfect, since we only need this place for 1 year, so we agreed to take it. Below are some pictures of our apartment in Beijing so you can get a better idea of what our home looks like. Not only does it have a "western toilet" (the other option is to have a "squatty potty" which is a porcelain hole in the floor, maybe I will post about those later), but it has 2 of them, and a bathtub. This is our home:
The boys were so excited about moving to China and getting a bunk bed - here it is.
The master bedroom also has a master bathroom. Did I mention that there is an Ikea in Beijing?
Never have we been so excited to see a commode. And a bathtub is a rarity in China.
If I were writing in real estate language trying to sell someone on this place it would read: The kitchen is compact, everything is within reach.

We have a wonderful view from our 17th floor windows. This is a great courtyard area where the kids can run and play all they need.
This is the view from the master bedroom. This was a clear day. Many days we can't even see that pagoda in the distance.
