The Happiest Place on Earth

The McClure/Woody/Trumbo family spent a week with Mickey and Co. in Orlando. It was a very timely trip for all of us as it was a time for us to get away, be together, have fun, and celebrate life. It was really a perfect time for us to go (aside from the weather - the highs for the week were in the 40's) with Keegan being 6 and Reese being almost 4. Reese is the perfect age (and personality) to enjoy the characters. And Keegan is tall enough to ride Space Mountain, yet young enough to ask me afterward, "did we really just go into space?"

Aided by imaginative genius from the likes of George Lucas, C.S. Lewis, the guys from Pixar, and of course Walt himself, I must say that I enjoyed Disney more now then I did when I was 10. Objectively speaking, I realized that the Magic Kingdom is not as big as I remembered it, and neither are the drops on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. However, when I was 10 I was more captivated by the size of the park and the speed of the rides, now that I am 30 (actually 31) the thing I enjoyed the most was the fireworks over Cinderella's Castle. At the risk of sounding dorky, I believe more in the magic of Disney now then I did when I was Keegan's age.

The Fairy Godmothers at the Bippity Boppity Boutique will make your daughter look like a princess for a small fortune. But for $7 they will make your son look like a "Cool Dude". My wife doesn't have any daughters, and she may never have any daughters, so she took full advantage of the Boutique's lure to mothers without daughters and had our boys mohawked and sparkled. I don't know who loved it more, Chyloe or Keegan.
