8 More Kids

We found out on Monday that we were getting 8 new kids on Wednesday. These kids came from the same hometown that our last batch of 12 kids came from in November. This is an incredibly exciting time for all of us as we feel like our family has expanded. One of the most exciting things for us in the process is giving the kids English names. Chyloe made a list of names, I crossed off all of the names that would be too difficult for young Chinese mouths to pronounce, and then we put the remaining names up for a vote by the kids. We got 2 boys and 6 girls. I was thrilled that the top 2 boy name vote getters were Ryan and Chad (actually Brian was the 2nd highest vote getter but you can't have a Ryan and a Brian). My apologies to Tyler and Jeremy but Tyler got only one vote and Jeremy doesn't jive with the Chinese tongue. Our 6 new girls are Emma, Maggie, Hannah, Claire, Mandy, and Summer. Summer was the highest vote getter. Sorry Nikki and Graycee, we already have a Nick and a Grace living here, and Molly, Miyah, and Lacey didn't get enough votes. We'll put them in the hat for next time.
