Why Are They Running?
I was walking through campus with a student from South Africa and he made one of the funniest comments on cultural differences that I have ever heard:
(spoken with thick South African accent) "When I first got to America I saw all of these people running on the street and I thought, 'why are they running?' Where I come from, if you see someone running...you run! You don't ask them why they are running, you just run, and you hope you are faster than they are. You don't have to be the fastest, you just have to make sure that you are not the slowest."
