So I Learned My Lesson...
... A few weeks later I had another incident on my bike. First of all, I was having a bad day. I takes quite a bit to get me angered, and this day was one of those days that I was angry at China. I will not presently burden you with my bad day. I was biking to Starbucks to do some work since our internet ran out and I did not know where or how to pay the bill (when it rains it pours). I was cruising down a narrow street that had cars parked on both sides of the road. As I was side by side with a very nice parked VW Passat the lady decided it would be a good time to pull out into the street. Of course she had no idea that I was right next to her because she failed to look. And why would she look, its not like there are many people or bikes around. Oh wait, THIS IS CHINA FOR GOODNESS SAKE! To prevent myself from being run over I put my foot and her hood while my right pedal scraped and crunched nicely into the side of her car’s shiny black exterior. Since I was OK I kept on going. About 30 yards later she pulled beside me with window rolled down. Thinking she was going to apologize for running me into oncoming traffic I glanced over to hear her say, “等一会儿“ (wait a minute). I could tell very quickly that she was not happy about the situation so, having learned my lesson last time, I kept pedaling. Another 50 yards later she caught up with me again, this time trying to run me off the road. She rambled something incomprehensible in Chinese and I shouted to her, “不是我的问题” (it’s not my problem). She kept rambling and I kept pedaling. Up ahead was a one way street (at least for cars its one way). She had to turn right and I was turning left. Knowing her cause was lost she caught up to me one more time to shout at me one English phrase she did know that began with an F, followed by a hard double consonant, and ending in “you”.
Wow! You get moody too!? We'll be a great team, you and me. :)
