Our New 'Hood
We love our new digs. We have a wonderful view from the 17th floor. We have lived here for 1 month and my bike has not been stolen yet. Yesterday I walked across the sidewalk to get a haircut. Just outside the gate are a multitude of street vendors selling everything from fresh fruit to popcorn.
However, the best part about our neighborhood is our neighbors. In our obscure neighborhood in China live 3 white families (including us) - all of whom graduated from the same University. Its not really a coincidence if you think about it. It is so wonderful for our kids to have other English speaking kids to play with. We went over to Jeremy's house last week for after dinner donuts - real donuts!
Since moving to China we have reverted back to the infant stage of life where communicating consists of grunts and points and cries. It is so nice to be able to call Kay and ask her to call the water guy for us because we are empty. We had mashed potatoes for dinner tonight thanks to her hand mixer also. What a wonderful and completely unexpected blessing!
