Karaoke - International Friends Style
For our Friday Dinner last week we had a Karaoke party. You never know what you are going to get with a Karaoke party - it could possibly go on all night, it could possible be a bust. If you have never been to Asia then you don't understand when I say: it will never be a bust when there are Asians in the house!
Someone had procured a karaoke machine that had hundreds of songs in dozens of languages. We had songs sung in Portuguese, Chinese, Korean, English, and the universal language of Vanilla Ice. Unfortunately, the machine was a few years old, so the Koreans were not able to treat us to Gangam Style, but that didn't stop the Chinese girls from singing Taylor Swift and the Brazilians leading an international dance party.
Lessons learned:
1. Asians karaoke better than they do just about anything.
2. International Friends needs more Brazilians.
3. The Beatles transcend time and culture.
4. Karaoke is probably the single most underrated form of entertainment in the entire western hemisphere.
